Sermonizing

If we were in a public situation where someone asked, “Is there anyone here who could tell us about Jesus?” Could we preach to them right then and there. Would be able, would we be ready? With No Notes, no pulpit, maybe even no Bible in hand?

The professional sermonizer would be in a world of hurt, AND tragically, the “open door” to the Gospel would close because the “pulpiteer” would be unable to preach to them!

Some would say to me, “Aren’t you being kind of harsh on your own ‘kind'”? My response: They ARE NOT my “Kind”!

God’s Plan

Nothing in the history of our world has ever taken God by surprise. Nothing! God never has an “OOPS!” He HAS a plan! ALWAYS!

God is not trying fix a plan of His that has gone wrong. All that is “wrong” in the world is a result of God giving man the ability and right to choose. But, He even has a plan to fix that!

God is not trying fix a plan of His that has gone wrong. All that is “wrong” in the world is a result of God giving man the ability and right to choose. God wanted to love and be loved. For that to happen man had to be created with both the right and responsibility to choose who/what he would love. Our world/society is in this condition here now because of man — and his own choices. But God is love.

Even knowing what man’s choices would be, the Lord put His plan in place to redeem man from the consequences of his wrong choices. Our Lord became the “Lamb of God SLAIN from the foundation of the world”! Even before a man was created who could potentially make wrong choices, because of His Love God had a plan in place to save man from himself!

AGAIN — Nothing has ever taken God by surprise. Nothing! God never has had an “OOPS!”

Man’s time of having choices will not last forever. There IS a day of accountability for every choice that is wrong and destructive. However, God in His love provided a way/means whereby man could be forgiven of those choices and restored to right relationship with the Creator God! BUT, even that is a free will choice that must be consciously made to receive the benefit of forgiveness. Our God will not even violate man’s free will to “force” forgiveness on him!

God has a plan — of salvation, of redemption, of restoration! BUT, man must choose to believe it, receive it, and obey it!

Prayer

Prayer is not something we do, it’s an expression of who we are.‬

‪Also, it is the purest expression of our relationship with God.‬

Some pray TO God, asking Him to give them what they want.‬

‪But for others, they are a conduit for God to pray His Will THROUGH them.‬

Biblical Prayer

Every manifestation of the presence of God is supposed to be a life-changing event not just an “exciting” experience.‬

Biblical Prayer is supernatural in dimension and empowerment and is designed, intended, and purposed to affect eternity by altering the eternal destination of souls.

If our prayers ONLY AFFECT THIS TEMPORAL LIFE, THEN THEY BRING NO TRUE GLORY TO GOD!

True Leadership

True leadership is not what you do but what you can get other people to do.

True leadership is not how great you are, but how great you can lead other people to be!

A true leader is not the “star” with those who follow him being his “audience.” A true leader makes everyone else “stars”!

A true leader is never a “one man show”! The goal of a true leader is to multiply the number of people who can do what he does!

A true leader teaches the principle, then personally demonstrates the principle, then empowers others to do the principle, then coaches them to do the principles better!

True leadership is like true parenting, you work yourself out of a “job.”

In other words, a true leader leads like Jesus led!

Once a Dad always a Dad, BUT being a Dad to married children is not the same as being a Dad to children at home!

Still Dad BUT not the same way.

Being a leader to those who are working “for” you is very different than leading those who are working “with” you!

And the goal of a leader should always be to “grow” people to go from working “for” them to working “with” them!

As a Dad and a “father in the Gospel,” my goal is not to have Sons and “Sons in the Gospel” who are great preachers and great leaders, but who are great people with great character — who are great Christians!

I would rather they be known for the quality of their spirit than for the quality of their sermons, the rightness of their attitudes than the rightness of their postulations,
and the magnanimity of their charity than the magnificence of their persona!
In other words, I want them to be true Christians!

As a parent, doing what is best for our kids is almost never the easiest! In fact it is usually the hardest thing to do!

However, I must do what is right to them, if I want them to do right!

THAT is my job as a parent – TO TEACH MY CHILDREN TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT! NOT WHAT IS EASY!

‪I am supposed to be my kids’ PARENT!

NOT their buddy, best friend, playmate, etc. I may be those things at times, but first and foremost, I am ALWAYS the PARENT!‬

Men Of God!

THE LORD CALLS MEN OF GOD AND EQUIPS THEM TO DO HIS WILL AND HIS WORK. THAT WORK? STANDING AGAINST THE STUBBORNNESS AND SINS OF HIS PEOPLE AND DELIVERING HIS MESSAGE!

Ezekiel 3:4-9
4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.
5 For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;
6 Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.
7 But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.
8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.
9 As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

The Lord knows us. He knows our flesh. He wants to save us. So He prepares Men of God to be able to speak to us with His authority. He will NOT give in to us and condone our sins! He commands His men to NOT give in to us either! The Lord describes this as “forehead against forehead”!
PREACHERS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO PLACATE AND ACCOMMODATE! PREACHERS ARE SUPPOSED TO STAND FOR GOD’S WORD AND WILL — REGARDLESS OF THE PEOPLE’S OPINION OF THEM AND/OR THEIR WORDS. Why? BECAUSE FOR THE TRUE MAN OF GOD, HIS WORDS ARE NOT HIS OWN BUT GOD’S!
A TRUE MAN OF GOD WILL NOT COMPROMISE OR APPEASE! THE SOULS OF MANKIND ARE DEPENDENT UPON MEN OF GOD HEARING, SPEAKING, AND STANDING BY THE WORDS THAT GOD HAS GIVEN THEM TO SAY. IF THEY DON’T DO THIS, THEN IT IS THE SOUL OF THE MAN OF GOD THAT IS IN JEOPARDY!

Ezekiel 3:18-19
18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; BUT THOU HAST DELIVERED THY SOUL.

Ezekiel 3:20-21
20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, BECAUSE HE IS WARNED; ALSO THOU HAST DELIVERED THY SOUL.

Ezekiel 33:7-9
7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; BUT THOU HAST DELIVERED THY SOUL.

OH MINISTERIAL BRETHREN! THINK NOT THAT YOU CAN “EDIT” WHAT GOD IS SAYING OR REFUSE TO SAY WHAT HE IS SAYING TO HIS PEOPLE AND/OR TO THIS WORLD AND THAT YOU WILL AVOID BEING JUDGED BY GOD FOR THAT. YOU ARE HIS PLAN! IF YOU FAIL TO BE HIS MOUTHPIECE, THEN YOUR SOUL STANDS IN JUDGEMENT BEFORE THE GOD WHO CALLED YOU! THINK NOT THAT YOU WILL ESCAPE. IF YOU LET PEOPLE GO TO HELL TO SPARE YOURSELF, YOU WILL NOT BE SPARED!

Catch And Release

“CATCH AND RELEASE” CHURCHES

I was listening to some guys talk about fishing. They bragged about all the fish they had caught. I asked where the fish were? They said it was “catch and release”! They took pictures and bragged about the “catch,” but there was nothing to show for their time investment! Who knows they might have been “catching” the same fish over and over again!

Sounds like some “churches” I know: “CATCH AND RELEASE”! They have a crowd, but no church! They just entertain folks each week and release them right back to their old lives! These pastors “brag” about their crowds, but really nothing eternal is accomplished!

We are called by Jesus to be “Fishers of Men”! But it is not a sport! It is not for entertainment! It is for altering the eternal destiny of souls!

(Some will do their “normal” thing to avoid hearing the Word and being convicted: They will say, “You are judging!” There is judging going on all right, but it is the Word of God not man who is Judging! 1 Peter 4:7-18!)

Praying In The Will of God

Being “prayerful” is NOT the same thing as being spiritual.

I am ONLY “Spiritual” IF I am both filled with and GOVERNED by the Spirit.

If my “prayer” is only focused on getting God to do what I will (what I “want” without even asking Him what He wants), I may be “prayerful,” BUT I am NOT spiritual.

We MUST be sensitive to the Spirit of God to be able to pray IN God’s will and NOT against it.

Surrendering to the Will of God is the MOST important focus of prayer!

Timing has always been a significant part of God’s WILL. “When” is just as important as “What”! Along with “Where,” “Who,” and “How”?

Our Lord usually starts with revealing to us the “What” and “Who.” Then LATER He will usually show us the “Where”! BUT He uses revealing the “How” and the “When” to control TIMING!

I DO NOT KNOW “THE WILL OF GOD” UNTIL I KNOW ALL OF THESE FIVE THINGS!

The Will of God is NEVER just one or two of these five! MANY have made huge, tragic mistakes because they knew only a portion of the Will of God but did not know all of it AND impatiently acted anyway on what they knew. Then when things went terribly wrong, they want to blame God!

ITS NOT GOD’S FAULT IF I DID NOT WAIT ON HIM! IT’S MINE! ONLY MINE!
